Taking the ME out of TEAM.

Boo! That's October done.

Looking ahead to November, I’ll be taking a bit of time out to jump into a new chapter with my husband, as we adopt our little girl. It’s an exciting time for us. This will be the longest break I’ve taken from the business since I joined as an Account Director nearly 14 years ago. And in my role now as Managing Director, I’m fortunate to work alongside a talented team, who will keep things running as efficiently as ever.

At the heart of any agency are the relationships we build and nurture – with our team, clients and partners. Our success is the result of a cohesive team, working together. And while it sounds easy (we need people to get along, work together and get the job done, right?) – in reality, it often proves to be the most challenging part of running a business.

But at Good, we’ve worked hard to attract and retain brilliant people who share our passion for our clients’ business as much as they do for our own. We’re committed to improving our team’s skills and capabilities through coaching and professional development. But equally important is creating the space and opportunity for people to thrive – part of which means recognising when to step aside and let others take the lead.

And that’s exactly what’s happening this month. We have two of our Client Service team heading out to see clients in the US, stepping up to lead key client meetings, workshops and discussions. Under normal circumstances, I would have been a part of at least one of these trips – but stepping back creates an opportunity for others in the team to step up. And the experience benefits us all. Our clients get a fresh perspective, our team continues to grow and develop, and our leadership gains confidence in the capable individuals who keep our business running smoothly day in and day out.

It's a little bittersweet (I still love being involved in the client stuff), but it’s hugely rewarding to see people come through the business and the better we all are as a result.
