We kick off our new financial year a bit like a lost submarine finally resurfacing from the Bermuda Triangle – sightly bewildered but ready to conquer new territories.
Given the current state of the world, where AI might be running for president and pigeons are potentially the next big thing in drone technology, we’ve no idea where we’ll be in 12 months. But right now, we’re feeling confident and excited about what’s to come in the summer months (which, in Glasgow, means it’s that time of year when you never leave home without sunglasses and an umbrella).
It’s been a busy few weeks at Good, with clients coming back to life, budgets being signed off and new work being scoped by the team. We’ve also had a bunch of new business discussions that sparked some interesting conversations around the nature of agency/client relationships.
At Good we truly value the relationships we build with our clients. We see these partnerships not just as business transactions, but as collaborations that thrive on mutual respect and shared goals. Just as clients seek out agencies that understand (and can solve) their business problem, we’re looking for clients who inspire and enable us to deliver our best work.
Our partnership with clients is a two-way street, so establishing clear and open communication from the start is key. One aspect we touched on recently during a new business conversation was the importance of discussing fair payment terms early on.
Talking about money upfront can sometimes seem presumptuous, uncomfortable, or even a bit ‘dirty’. But we believe it sets a solid foundation for a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership. Here’s why…
Clear expectations: By addressing payment terms early, we know everyone is on the same page from the outset. This clarity helps us focus on delivering work that meets clients’ needs without any misunderstandings down the line.
Mutual respect: Fair and prompt payment for the work we deliver reflects a mutual respect for each other’s time, effort and expertise.
Sustainable collaboration: When financial aspects are transparently discussed and agreed, it paves the way for a sustainable, long-term relationship.
Trust building: Open discussions about all aspects of a project, including payment, build trust. We are committed to being transparent and believe that trust is fundamental to success.
